EuGH judgement for Time registration

A.WFMGeneral

On May 14, 2019, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) issued a ruling requiring all employers in the European Union to implement a system for recording the working time of their employees. The ruling was made in response to a lawsuit filed by the Spanish labor union Federación de Servicios de Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) against Deutsche Bank.

The court found that member states must require employers to set up an “objective, reliable and accessible system” that allows for the duration of time worked by each employee to be measured. This is necessary to ensure that workers’ rights to limit their working hours and take rest breaks are respected, as well as to ensure that they are paid for all of the time that they work.

The ECJ’s ruling applies to all member states of the European Union and is intended to be enforced in each country. Employers must now establish a system for recording the working time of their employees, which may involve implementing time tracking software, using a time clock, or some other method.

The ruling has significant implications for employers throughout the European Union, as failure to comply with the requirement to record working time could result in penalties and legal action. The decision is seen as a victory for workers’ rights and is expected to have a positive impact on working conditions and the overall quality of life for employees in the EU.

A.WFM offers a seamless and reliable time and attendance capture solution to meet the legal requirement of capturing an employee’s worked time.

ESS as a pathway to employee engagement and retention

ESS as a pathway to employee engagement and retention

Employee Self-Service (ESS) is a technology that allows employees to access HR-related information and processes without having to communicate directly with HR. ESS is a useful tool for retaining employees and attracting new ones, as it gives them a sense of autonomy and control over their own careers. Here are some ways ESS can contribute to employee retention and recruitment:

  1. Flexibility and convenience: ESS gives employees the opportunity to manage their working time and leave requests from the comfort of their own home. This gives employees the feeling that their employer is flexible and responsive to their needs, which in turn can help keep them with the company longer.
  2. Personalised information: ESS can enable employees to have personalised information about their performance and recorded times, always online and up-to-date. This gives employees a sense of control over their work, past and planned, and strengthens their commitment to the company.
  3. Improved communication: ESS enables improved communication between employees and HR by providing direct access to HR-related information and processes. This can help employees feel more supported and informed.
  4. Efficiency: ESS can help reduce the workload of the HR department by allowing employees to manage their own HR-related processes. This allows HR to focus on more strategic tasks while ensuring employees have their concerns dealt with quickly and efficiently.

ESS als Werkzeug zur Mitarbeiter-Retention / Gewinnung

Overall, ESS can help make employees happier and more engaged by giving them more control over their careers and strengthening their relationship with the company. This can help retain employees longer and attract new talent that is looking for an innovative and modern workplace.

With its employee-centred software solutions, A.WFM is able to offer the ideal conditions for implementing the advantages of an ESS in your company.
